Ahmadinejad says Iran is 'train without brakes'

Associated Press
February 25, 2007

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday said his country would move forward with its disputed nuclear program despite international demands that it halt uranium enrichment, comparing Iran's program to a train without brakes, state-run radio reported.

The hard-line leader also repeated his call for negotiations, saying the time for "bullying" had expired.

"The train of the Iranian nation is without brakes and rear gear," the radio quoted Ahmadinejad as telling a gathering of Islamic clerics. "We dismantled the rear gear and brakes of the train and threw them away some time ago."
